Hanify & King lawyer Christopher Morrison wrote "Developers Add Weapon to Arsenal In Form of Required Suerty Bonds" for the July 30, 2007 Commercial Real Estate section of Banker & Tradesman. The article deals with a recent Superior Court judge's ruling, in Therrien v. Global Property Developers Corp. et al, ordering the plaintiff to post a surety bond to secure the developer’s rising construction costs and lost opportunities while the plaintiff's appeal was pending.

Hanify & King lawyers Jeffrey J. Upton and Daniel J. Dwyer were featured in the Verdict Spotlight section of the June 18, 2007, vol. 25, no. 43 edition of Lawyers Weekly. The article "Last-minute evidence earns exec $5M in breach-of-contract case" dealt with the recent jury verdict in the case Landrith, plaintiff-in-counterclaim v. Humphry, et al. case number SUCV2002-04137.

Hanify & King, Professional Corporation announced today that associate Christopher M. Morrison has been appointed to the Mental Health Legal Advisors Committee (MHLAC) by the Supreme Judicial Court. The MHLAC is comprised of 14 judges and lawyers who are well versed in mental health law. Morrison worked with the MHLAC while attending Boston College Law School as a summer associate.

On April 3, 2007, Philip Graeter appeared before the Supreme Judicial Court in the appeal of Devine v. Nantucket, which concerned the validity of efforts by the Nantucket Airport to take a parcel of land by eminent domain in 1968 and 1970. On Thursday, July 19, 2007, the high court found in favor of our client Mr. William Devine.

Hanify and King lawyer Philip H. Graeter wrote the article "From Unfair to Unconstitutional: Making a Federal Case of Permits" for the Commercial Real Estate Monthly section of the February 26th, 2007 Banker & Tradesman. In the article Mr. Graeter writes, "A recent phenomenon in permitting litigation is the growth of "class of one" equal protection claims by developers and homeowners against local officials for the denial of permits or related adverse treatment."
