Experience
Mr. Morrison is experienced in complex civil litigation at the trial and appellate level, with substantive experience representing small and mid-sized companies in complicated business disputes. He concentrates his practice on intellectual property litigation and general business litigation.
Mr. Morrison clerked for the Honorable Robert E. Keeton of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and was a litigation associate at Hill & Barlow before joining Hanify & King.
In 2006, Mr. Morrison was appointed by Governor Romney as a Trustee of Massachusetts Bay Community College.
In 2007, the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts appointed Mr. Morrison to the Mental Health Legal Advisors Committee, an organization created to advise the Courts on mental health issues and to advocate of people with mental illness.
Mr. Morrison is active in the Boston Bar Association, and was selected to participate in the Public Interest Leadership Program. In 2008, he served on the BBA’s Strategic Planning Committee.
Representative Engagements
- Successfully defended utility against multi-million dollar property damage claim in which plaintiff blamed electromagnetic fields for causing catastrophic failure of sprinkler system.
- Obtained $1.8 million judgment on behalf of a client whose payroll company failed to pay the company’s payroll taxes.
- Lead associate in a case where Hanify & King successfully defended a special permit on behalf of a commercial developer against a challenge by a competitor.
- Represents private utilities in a variety of complex business litigation matters.
- Obtained a $7 million judgment to enforce an earn-out provision against a multi-national corporation following its acquisition of a client’s company.
- Successfully represented nonprofit organization in Superior Court action involving claims for return of property and consumer protection act.
- Represented German OEM manufacturer in arbitration over distributorship arrangement in the United States.
- Obtained reversal by Appeals Court of summary judgment in breach of contract case.
