Experience
Mr. Urbano’s practice focuses on all aspects of complex insolvency matters, including Chapter 11 reorganizations, Chapter 7 liquidations and related litigation and transactions. He has represented corporate and individual debtors, creditors’ committees, trustees, plan administrators, commercial landlords, secured and unsecured creditors, and various other constituencies in the bankruptcy context. Mr. Urbano has also represented numerous plaintiffs and defendants in preference and fraudulent transfer actions and other litigation relating to the debtor-creditor relationship. Prior to joining Hanify & King, Mr. Urbano was a bankruptcy associate at Goulston & Storrs, P.C. from 2003-2005 and Choate Hall & Stewart LLP from 2000-2002. Mr. Urbano served as law clerk to the Honorable Justice Robert G. Flanders, Jr., Supreme Court of Rhode Island, 1999-2000.
Representative Engagements
- Counsel to regional heavy equipment lessor in its successful chapter 11 reorganization involving disputes with over 14 secured equipment lenders.
- Counsel to committee of unsecured creditors relating to biomedical device company’s successful reorganization.
- Representation of Chapter 7 trustees, plan administrators, and creditors’ committees in prosecution of preference and fraudulent transfer actions and claims reconciliation.
- Counsel to Chapter 7 trustee in numerous corporate and individual Chapter 7 cases.
- Represented office, warehouse, shopping center and biotech company landlords in numerous Chapter 11 cases.
- Represented research and licensing division of major Boston hospital in its capacity as largest unsecured creditor and creditors’ committee co-chair in biotech Chapter 11 cases.
- Represented major Boston bank and trust company in successful defense of litigation and mediation of fraudulent transfer action.
- Represented assignees for the benefit of creditors in connection with negotiation of assignment documents and sale of substantially all of assignor’s biomedical tangible and intangible assets.
