Boston (July 8, 2009) – Hanify & King, Professional Corporation today announced that Attorney Sean Phelan has joined the firm as an associate in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.
Phelan works on the firm’s patent litigation practice. He first joined Hanify & King last fall as a participant in the Boston College Law Fellowship Program. During his six-month fellowship, Phelan worked with Hanify & King shareholder Edward Pennington on patent litigation.

Phelan said that the experience gained during his fellowship was the key to his being offered the position as associate.
“During my fellowship, Ed Pennington took me under his wing when I was newly out of law school and I quickly became immersed in patent litigation. When you work with the best lawyers in a friendly environment, it was easy to accept the offer of an associate position,” said Phelan.
Phelan’s professional experience also includes working in Beijing, China for the Boston College International Consulting Project and prosecuting for the Boston College Law School Criminal Justice Clinic. Most recently, Phelan worked to create a Campus StartUP Program for The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. He has also worked as a teaching assistant and research assistant for the Boston College Law School and served as National Mock Trial Team Captain. Phelan received his Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School and his Bachelor of Science in Political Science magna cum laude from Truman State University. Phelan is a resident of Washington, D.C.
