Top 5% of bar honored in November issue of Boston Magazine
Boston – November 1, 2004. John D. Hanify and Harold B. Murphy of Hanify & King, PC, a Boston-based law firm, have been named Massachusetts Super Lawyers® for 2004 by Boston Magazine in the special supplement in November. Each lawyer included is selected by his or her peers throughout the state of Massachusetts as being outstanding in the profession. The selection process is extensive and includes polling lawyers across the state, conducting independent research, screening nominees, interviewing law firms, fact checking and a blue-ribbon panel review.
John D. Hanify, co-founder of Hanify & King, directs the firm’s litigation practice. For 25 years, he has tried cases and represented business clients in both state and federal courts, before federal and state agencies and in arbitration. Before forming Hanify & King, he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts. Hanify is a trustee as well as a former treasurer of the Boston Bar Association and is a Fellow of the American, Boston and Massachusetts Bar Foundations. Hanify is named in Best Lawyers in America for his litigation experience.

Harold B. Murphy is co-founder and director of the firm's Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Group. Murphy specializes in bankruptcy and commercial law, including the representation of debtors, creditors’ committees, trustees and creditors in Chapter 11 reorganizations and Chapter 7 liquidations. He also is named in Best Lawyers in America for his expertise in bankruptcy and insolvency as well as recognized as one of the top bankruptcy attorneys in the country by Chambers USA.
