Boston – November 5, 2004. Hanify & King, PC, a Boston-based law firm, announced today the opening of a new office location in Marlborough. This new site will expand Hanify & King’s existing presence and legal expertise to clients in the Metro West, Worcester and Central Massachusetts regions.
Hanify & King attorneys Joshua Kalkstein, Gerard Richer, and John Samia head a team of lawyers in Marlborough who place a major emphasis on a newly-established Life Sciences Practice Group by providing legal representation, counsel and advice to clients specifically in the life sciences/biotech industry. In addition, like its Boston counterpart, it will also offer experienced legal representation in litigation, bankruptcy, corporate, and real estate matters to both businesses and individuals.
Kalkstein has worked for more than two decades as Assistant General Counsel for Pfizer Inc.’s Global Research and Development Organization. In this position, he helped to close thousands of deals involving multi-millions of dollars and played an instrumental role in the largest pharmaceutical initiative in the world, making him one of the world’s leading technology transfer executives.
“I see Metro West and Central Mass. as the new frontier for the growing life sciences industry. With Hanify & King’s experience and ideas, we can guide new businesses and help established ones thrive and become successful,” said Kalkstein.
Richer, of Southborough, is a senior member of Hanify & King and his practice focuses mainly on business and real estate. He advises his clients, including manufacturers, institutional lenders, real estate developers, not-for-profit organizations, and professional service firms with respect to tax and financial aspects of transactions. More specifically, he counsels clients on commercial loan transactions, asset and stock purchases and sales, capital restructuring, employment, licensing, and distribution arrangements. Richer serves on the boards of the Marlborough Hospital Foundation, The Boys and Girls Club of Metro West and St. Mary's Credit Union where also serves as Chairman.
“Hanify & King has a lot to offer the businesses of Central Massachusetts as our team has a deep knowledge and expertise of many areas of the law. Our clients also have the benefit of large-firm service but without the sticker shock,” said Richer.
Samia, a resident of Shrewsbury, concentrates primarily on corporate business transactions, private equity, commercial finance, and general business matters. He has assisted venture capital clients with fund formation, capital raising and million-dollar investments, and has represented both privately- and publicly-held companies in acquisition and sale transactions and investments reaching past the hundred-million dollar mark.
“This is an exciting time for Central Mass. and the Metro West area. We are seeing an influx of new businesses such as those in biotech and life sciences that will help our economy thrive,” said Samia. “Hanify & King is well-positioned to provide value-added services to these newly emerging companies as well as to established companies, and to meet all of their business needs.”
Hanify & King’s new Marlborough office is located at 293 Boston Post Road West, Route 20, telephone 508-624-8881 and fax 508-624-8882.
