Company Links with Fish Processor to Develop Multi-National and Multi-Purpose Amino Acid Technology
Boston - November 30, 2004 - Boston-based law firm Hanify & King announced today that Attorney James C. King is serving as lead counsel to Green Earth Industries, LLC for the licensing of an intellectual property agreement, distribution agreement, and research and development agreement with Marine Biotechnology AS of Norway. The joint venture concerns a newly developed amino acid technology that will use fish waste produced at salmon-processing plants in Norway.
Green Earth, based in Washington, D.C., will utilize Hanify & King for licensing the technology with Marine Biotechnology to extract amino acids from recirculated fresh salmon waste products. Green Earth will also be assisting in the distribution of products resulting from the extraction process such as animal feed, pet food and the nutraceutical market.
“This is a major step for Green Earth’s efforts to bring 21st-century technology to practical uses,” said King, president and co-founder of Hanify & King. By using this new technology, what had once been a fish waste product will now be going to good use. This agreement solves several problems as it gives the fish processing plant a solution for the waste and it provides a better alternative to infusing animal feed with vital amino acids.”
Marine Biotechnology AS, in association with the University of Bergen in Norway will extract the amino acids from fish byproducts at a salmon processing plant in Norway.
